With a vibrantly active sales season corresponding with the current ski season, The Lion condominiums in Lionshead Village has sold 63 percent of its inventory with a robustly steady pace, said Matt Fitzgerald, branch broker of the Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate (SSFRE) Lionshead office and The Lion’s listing broker.

“The demand for new product in Vail and Lionshead is certainly a factor,” Fitzgerald continued. “Buyers here love the location and the luxury lifestyle that The Lion affords.”

The Lion has sold 29 of its 49 available residences since launching in late 2017. Fitzgerald noted that emphasis on guest service, particularly with a dedicated ski concierge, has been “a big hit” this ski season.

This service includes the launch of a new low-speed electric vehicle which shuttles residents and guests to and from the slopes. Named “The Toboggan,” it, along with the ski concierge, make the short trip from The Lion to the Lionshead Gondola part of the guest service experience.

“Families with young kids love it,” said Andy LaBolle, The Lion general manager. “The Town of Vail was great in approving it for limited use as it’s electric, efficient and sustainable—all tremendous goals of our community. It’s really been well-received.”

The Lion made news in 2018 as the sale of the penthouse of the luxury property, designed in “alpine modern” style, set the price per square foot (PPSF) record for a real estate transaction in Lionshead Village when it closed in March at $3,063.90 per square foot.

“Village location, service and amenity-rich residences are in demand,” said Fitzgerald. “There continues to be demand for new construction and discerning buyers are seeking service, location and lifestyle.”

Available residences at The Lion consist of two to five-bedroom residences that include amenities like oversized ski lockers with built-in, double boot driers; a huge outdoor salt-water hot tub; an indoor infinite current lap pool and salt-water hot tub; a fitness center with steam room and an entertainment room suitable for kids and adults. It also has a three-level, 167-spot parking garage.
