Vail Police are advising bicyclists to secure their equipment following a recent increase in thefts.

Numerous bikes, even those secured with locks or cables, have been stolen in recent days. Bikes that are out in the open have been most susceptible to being stolen.

Owners are encouraged to bring their bikes into their residences or take extra security measures.

Along with bike thefts, Vail Police have also been made aware of a rash of vehicle thefts from neighboring towns. The suspects search for unlocked vehicles, find the keys located inside and subsequently steal the vehicle.

Vail Police suggest removing all valuables from vehicles, including the keys, and to keep vehicles locked.

If you have any information regarding the stolen bikes or suspicious activity please, contact Vail Police at 970-479-2200.
