Eagle County Public Health & Environment on Monday announced it’s accepting pre-registration for all community members who want to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, which recent tests show are very effective both at stopping transmission of the disease and preventing serious health outcomes. Here’s the county press release:

Eagle County Public Health & Environment is now accepting pre-registration from all community members who wish to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. While the current eligible group is still 1B.4 on the state’s distribution plan, Governor Polis has announced the vaccine can be offered to the general public on April 2 as supplies allow.  The registration form is available at www.eaglecountycovid.org. There is no cost for the vaccination.

Once registered, no further action is required. Vaccine supply is still limited, so if the number of sign-ups exceeds the available amount of vaccine doses, appointments will be issued based on a random drawing among those who are eligible. Those who are selected to receive a vaccination will be contacted using text messaging or the email address they provided to schedule an appointment.

In addition, those receiving the vaccine will be asked to attest they will be available for both doses if needed. Appointments are required; anyone who shows up at a clinic without an appointment will not receive a vaccine.

“We want to remind everyone that all three currently available vaccines are highly effective at preventing severe disease and death. If you get selected for the vaccine don’t wait, the best vaccine is the one you can get now,” said ECPHE Director Heath Harmon.

Those who receive their vaccine are reminded of the importance of continuing to follow the 5 Commitments of Containment for the health and safety of the entire community.
