Beaver Creek’s Oktoberfest set for Labor Day weekend

Beaver Creek’s 15th annual traditional Oktoberfest celebration returns with German food, dancing and live music Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30-31.  Guests will enjoy authentic Bavarian food, a beer garden and  free musical entertainment from headlinerAeromyth, as well as Trachtenkapelle, an oom-pah-pah band from  Beaver Creek’s sister city, Lech-Zurs, Austria, along with  local German icon Helmut Fricker. Kids and adults will also be able to participate in Bavarian costume contests over the weekend in their lederhosen and dirndls.

Beaver Creek logoThis year’s live music features the rock and roll sounds of Aeromyth on Saturday and Sunday from 4:30-6 p.m. Taking you back to your Aerosmith concert days, Aeromyth has performed all over the United States and internationally and has been featured on The Morning Show, Regis & Kelly and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.  Watch their performances over the weekend on the Beaver Creek Plaza stage following the live performances by Trachtenkappelle and Helmut Fricker that start at 11 a.m. each day.

On Saturday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Aug. 31 a Kids’ Fun Zone will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the lawn at Centennial Park and the complimentary Culinary Demonstrations will showcase traditional Bavarian food from local chefs in the Kitchen PavilionTent at 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. The adult Bavarian Costume contest will take place on Saturday at 4 p.m. on the main stage with registration from 12 to 3:30 p.m. that day in Beaver Creek Village. The Kids’ European Alpenhorn Contest open registration will take place on Sunday from 12 to 3:30 p.m. in the village with the contest occurring at 4 p.m. in Centennial Park.

The Oktoberfest Shuffle presented by SmartWool on Sunday, Aug. 31 provides a great way to start the day and enjoy the scenic trails on Beaver Creek. The race starts at 10 a.m. and includes a 5K, 10K and Family Fun 1K option for all ages and ability levels. Race participants will receive a gift, bratwurst and beer or non-alcoholic drink. To pre-register for the event, visit www.beavercreek.com/oktoberfest. Pre-registration is $35 for adults and $40 the day of the race. The pre-registration for participants ages 13-18 is $25 and $30 the day of the race. Children 12 and under participate for free. All proceeds will benefit the Vail Valley Charitable Fund.
