Yoga Girl Experience

As the GoPro Mountain Games turn 15 June 9-12, there are a number of new happenings and favorite events from years past on tap. Here’s a complete list:

Lionshead Expansion

We will enliven the streets of Lionshead with a veritable smorgasbord of offerings and activities, including an amazing Onewheel demonstration track, where riders of this amazing, skateboard-esque device can compete on an obstacle course for prizes. Kids and families will come to Lionshead to enjoy the kayak pool and climbing wall – always among our most popular attractions during the GoPro Mountain Games. And perhaps the biggest news of all: Lionshead will be the epicenter of the EverBank Season Shifter X-Country Mountain Bike Race.

GoPro MTN Enduro

If you’re gonna fly like an Eagle, you might as well do it in Eagle, Colorado at the first-ever enduro mountain bike race at the GoPro Mountain Games, and the first event to be held in nearby Eagle, Colorado. High demand for an enduro will finally be met thanks to Eagle’s slightly-warmer climate and amazing trail system. Pedal up (untimed) and race down (timed) is the name of the game at the GoPro MTN Enduro. This year’s one-day event on Friday, June 10 will be a first foray into the enduro arena, which we hope will grow into a multi-day event in years to come.

Superfeet Après 5K trail run

If you’re the kind of person who gets antsy watching the action from the sidelines, the Superfeet Après 5K trail run is a great way to get involved and burn some calories over the weekend. It’s a 5K that isn’t a back breaker, but it’s not for couch potatoes, either. A great way to sign up and take part in the GoPro Mountain Games, the Superfeet Après 5K kicks off at the nice-and-easy time of 5 p.m. on Friday, June 10.

The ‘Yoga Girl Experience’ with Rachel Brathen

This year, the GoPro Mountain Games welcomes the Yoga Girl Experience with Swedish native Rachel Brathen. All the way from her home in Aruba, Brathen comes to Vail to host two 90-minute yoga sessions on Friday, June 10, and Saturday, June 11, followed by a Q&A session. Session one is ‘Magic in Motion,’ session two is ‘The Art of Letting Go.’ Tickets start at $40. This is an outdoor event. Bring your own mat, water and sunscreen! Please note that yogis do not receive GoPro Mountain Games athlete gift bags as a part of registration.

Rocky Dog trail run presented by The Secret Life of Pets

Short or tall, big or small, dogs love to run. That’s why the Rocky Dog trail run presented by The Secret Life of Pets is one of the most popular events at the GoPro Mountain Games. The start line will be full of furry friends when the event kicks off at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 10. The event is a great way to get your dog a bit worn out before the evening’s entertainment begins in Vail Village.

The Volvo Mountain Mud Run is BACK!

Everyone knows the Volvo Mountain Mud Run is one of the most popular and entertaining fun runs on the planet. We brought it back in 2015, and this year we have made it even muddier, family friendly and enjoyable. There are two waves of the Mountain Mud Run at Golden Peak on Saturday, June 11: the Kids and Family Wave at 1:30 p.m. and the All Mountain Madness Wave at 2:30 p.m.

The return of the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater free concert

The legendary Marley family has perhaps no better representation than Stephen Marley, who will bring the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater to life at the GoPro Mountain Games Saturday, June 11 with opening act BONFIRE dub, all presented by Coors Light. The event will cap the GoPro Mountains of Music series, which begins Thursday, June 9 at the Checkpoint Charlie stage in Vail Village with Zach Deputy kicking things off followed by J Roddy Walston & The Business headlining. New Zealand roots reggae band, Katchafire, is set to perform on Friday, June 10 after an opening set from Tracksuit Wedding. The Marley concert represents the first time a GoPro Mountains of Music concert has been held in the Ford Amphitheater since the Vail Valley Foundation began organizing the event in 2009.
