The U.S. Moguls Ski Team returns to Vail, Co., Friday, Sept. 6, for their second annual team fundraiser. Although U.S. Ski & Snowboard is based in Park City, Utah, the Vail community feels very much like home for many members of the team. Eleven athletes have roots in Colorado, an impressive six are alumni of Ski & Snowboard Club Vail.

The annual fundraiser was the brainchild of Jaelin Kauf (Alta, Wyo.) and Tess Johnson (Vail, Colo.) who spearheaded its creation last year. The entire team rallied together and through their efforts raised nearly $100,000, almost triple their goal.

“We are so excited for our second annual U.S. Moguls fundraiser happening this Friday in Vail!” said Johnson. “Our entire team is fully funded this year, which is fantastic, and since our funds are reliant on this event, we are working really hard to raise over $100,000. This event helps to grow our humble freestyle family and it reignites our passion for skiing. Our silent auction items this year are better than ever and we are so grateful for all of the support! This fundraiser gets us one step closer to the thing we want most: the 2020 World Cup Nations Cup.”

Fans of moguls skiing are invited to attend the cocktail reception generously hosted by Jim and Jeffy Benedict on Friday, September 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Guest Clubhouse of Red Sky Ranch & Golf Club, 376 Red Sky Road, Wolcott, CO 81655.

Guests can expect to meet and mingle with the nation’s top moguls skiers, as well as special guests Billy Kidd, Shannon Bahrke-Happe, Heather McPhie-Watanabe, and Graham Watanabe.

Auction items include team gear, athlete experiences and some fun travel packages. Funds raised at the event will directly benefit the moguls athletes of the U.S. Ski Team, helping to cover training and travel costs as they head into the 2019-20 World Cup Season.

The best athletes put the needs of their team before the needs of themselves and surround themselves with a strong support system. Although an individual sport, the moguls athletes value the ability to come together as a team to support each other to be the best in the world.

Fans can be a part of the team behind the team from anywhere through the online auction site.
