Presenters will come from some of the top universities and medical institutions in the United States, including Northwestern University, University of Wisconsin, University of Pittsburgh, University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Mayo Clinic and SPRI, among others.

“This event brings some of the premiere visionaries and experts in the field of regenerative and translational medicine to Vail,” said Dan Drawbaugh, CEO of SPRI and The Steadman Clinic. “The Steadman Philippon Research Institute is proud to collaborate with the Vail Valley Medical Center on this very special symposium. This is a landmark event for our community here in Vail and will feature the very best researchers, doctors and scientists that the field has to offer.”

“Vail Valley Medical Center is looking forward to joining the Steadman Philippon Research Institute as hosts for this significant event,” said Doris Kirchner, President/CEO of VVMC. “Mike Shannon (Chairman, Vail Health Services Board) and Dr. Johnny Huard (Chief Scientific Officer, SPRI) have invited some of their most talented and respected colleagues and visionaries to join us and I commend them for their efforts in confirming Vail as a center of orthopaedic excellence.”

“I have to give Mike Shannon a tremendous amount of credit for his leadership and support in making this event possible,” said Huard. “We are bringing together the best of the best in the field of research in regenerative and translational medicine. Their collaboration — which is based on patient-focused ideals and principles — addresses the endless possibilities that stem cell research and regenerative medicine have for all of us.”

The roster of presenters includes keynote speaker Dr. Freddie Fu from the University of Pittsburgh. Fu, recognized as a preeminent leader in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine, will address the group on Friday evening, Aug. 21, to kick off the weekend’s events.

Saturday’s day-long schedule of presentations includes discussion on a wide range of regenerative medicine topics, including stem cell and gene therapy.
