Spring has massively sprung in the Vail Valley, which means it’s time to start thinking about Spring Back to Vail and its loaded lineup of free concerts starting April 11 and then the upcoming summer season of bigger-name acts at Vail’s Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater known as the Vail Valley Foundation’s Whistle Pig Vail concert series.

On Monday, the VVF announced the addition of the Steve Miller Band & Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives on Wednesday, Aug. 14. Billed as classic rock meets classic country, the doors for that show open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $65 for general admission to $199.50 for reserved seating and go on sale Friday, March 29, at 10 a.m.

Steve Miller follows the announcement earlier this month of Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats on Monday, Aug. 19, and one more big-name act will be announced the first week of April, according to VVF officials.

And if you still have snow riding on your mind, a warm week gives way to another blast of snow and cold on Friday, according to forecasters. Vail closes on Easter Sunday, April 21, and Beaver Creek closes on Sunday, April 14.

“Enjoy the warmth on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with crunchy snow in the morning and softening snow by late morning or midday thanks to high temperatures in the 40s,” Opensnow.com meteorologist Joel Gratz wrote Tuesday.

“Then cooler air will arrive on Friday, stay through Saturday, and we should see 3-6+ inches of snow on Friday or Friday night,” Gratz added. “The best chance to enjoy a little fresh snow will be on Friday and perhaps Saturday morning.”
