Denver man charged with attempted murder for Vail crime spree

A Denver man has been charged with attempted murder and aggravated robbery for a brief crime spree in the Lionshead area of Vail Friday night. Here’s the press release from the town of Vail:

Evan E. Reichert, 33, of Denver, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated robbery, aggravated motor vehicle theft, first degree kidnapping, felony menacing, numerous burglary charges, assault, trespassing and other charges related to the incident at Vail Marriott Mountain Residences on July 5 at 8:20 p.m.  

Reichert is accused of stealing a 2019 Chevrolet Suburban from a valet at knifepoint. He quickly crashed the vehicle and fled the scene. Reichert was taken into custody at 10:30 p.m. and is currently being held at the Eagle County Detentions Facility.

The Vail Police Department is still seeking witnesses or potential victims of crimes related to this incident. If you have any information pertaining to this incident or are a victim of a crime relating to this incident, please call the Vail Police at 970-479-2201.

The Police Department would like to thank the staff of the Marriott and Ritz properties for their quick and valuable assistance during this evolving incident.  The department would also like to apologize to all of the guests in the area that were impacted by this incident.

Note: All individuals are innocent until proven guilty in the court of law.
