USA Pro Cycling Challenge offers special 'Scout the Stage' ride on Aug. 26

July 7, 2011

Local cycling enthusiasts will have the unique opportunity to ride a section of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge Stage 4 course from Avon to Wolcott in advance of the pros on Friday, Aug. 26. The “Scout the Stage” citizen's ride will take participants through the same sections of the course as the pro riders providing participants the chance to know what it's like to ride like a pro but avoid the pressure of being a racer.

The Scout the Stage riders will start under the truss in Avon then travel through a 15 mile stretch of the Stage 4 course one hour before the pros. Riders will experience the spectator enthusiasm from those lining the course and then finish at Four Eagle Ranch where participants will be treated to a BBQ lunch and have a prime location to watch the pros race by on their way to Steamboat.

The Scout the Stage will be held on Friday, Aug. 26 with an 11:15 a.m. start time. Registration will open on Friday, July 8 at 9 a.m. at www.active.com under “Scout the Stage” and will be open to the first 300 participants who register. A $100 fee includes BBQ lunch at Four Eagle Ranch and gift bag with a Scout the Stage jersey.

For those cyclists with friends or family who will be joining them at Four Eagle Ranch to watch and give their Scout the Stage riders a ride home (if they don't want to ride round trip), registrants can purchase additional lunches on-line at the time of registration for $25. All additional lunches must be pre-purchased.
