Vail planners sponsor public walking tours to showcase redevelopment, celebrate National Planning Month
In celebration of National Planning Month in October as recognized by the American Planning Association, the Town of Vail Community Development Department will host walking tours on Oct. 21 and Oct. 28 to showcase development projects within Vail Village and LionsHead. Unlike previous walking tours, these tours will showcase both the exterior and the interior of these projects.

The tours are free and will include insights from town planners on each project and their impacts on Vail. The tours will highlight how the Vail Village Master Plan, the Vail Plan, the LionsHead Redevelopment Master Plan and the Vail Streetscape Master Plan among other planning documents have shaped development and subsequent redevelopment of Vail Village and LionsHead. Ultimately, these plans have been essential to the growth and success of Vail through its history. Further, the tours will provide a sneak peak of the interior of the projects, and will highlight the finishes and on-site amenities each project provides.
The tours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on each of the two days. The Oct. 21 tour will meet in front of Garfinkel's in Lionshead, and will include tours of the Landmark Condominiums, Lion Square Lodge North and the Ritz-Carlton Residences. The Oct. 28 tour will meet in front of the Colorado Ski Museum at the Vail Transportation Center and includes visits to Solaris, one of Vail's newest redevelopments, plus Sebastian (formerly Vail Plaza Hotel) and the Four Seasons, which will open in December.
Participants must wear sturdy walking shoes and are encouraged to bring water. Hard hats will be provided when necessary.
To RSVP for the tour, contact Chief Planner Warren Campbell at 479-2148. Walk-ups are also welcome.
