Anyone in the EagleVail or Avon area received an “extreme alert” on their phone late Sunday night after someone phoned in the bomb threat at the apartments located at 39377 U.S. Highway 6.

People living, working or traveling in the area were told to leave immediately, taking only pets and medicine to a shelter at the Avon Transit Center if necessary.

Along with all of those emergency responders, Vail Daily Editor Nate Peterson was up late Sunday night and early Monday, writing a story indicating police have a suspect in what luckily turned out to be a false report. The Jefferson County bomb squad reportedly was never called in by Eagle County officials.
